Evangelization classes for pastoral ministers scheduled for Fall
Pastoral ministers are invited to become certified in evangelization through a program sponsored by the Ministry Formation Office.
The Catholic Church was given the responsibility by Christ to evangelize — to share the Good News of Jesus with others. This program prepares pastoral ministers to gain an understanding of the foundational concepts of evangelization from key Church documents and will provide practical skills and resources for effective evangelization in Catholic parishes.
Requirements for admission into the program are successful completion of the Ministry Formation Program or its equivalent, some experience in parish pastoral ministry and endorsement from your pastor.
The program will run for seven Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. Catherine Parish, 340 S. Stott St. in Genoa (Sept. 9, 25; Oct. 23; Nov. 20; Jan. 22; Feb. 19; March 26 and April 30).
Sessions include personal spirituality, theological foundations, parish assessment, practical techniques and best practices, outreach, stewardship and possibilities for evangelization in the parish.
Cost for the entire program is $450. Students are responsible for purchasing their own books.
More information and an application form can be found at www.ceorockford.org under Adult Faith Formation.
Or call the Ministry Formation Office at 815/399-4300, or e-mail Jane Sartino at jsartino@rockforddiocese.org.
