Deacon Ronald Magee Dies on 21st Anniversary of Ordination

ROCKFORD—Deacon Ronald Magee died on April 27, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.

Born March 24, 1936, in Belvidere to Clarence and Marie (Moberg) Magee, he married Rosemary Altendorf in 1978 in Rockford.

He attended Genoa High School and graduated in 1988 from Rock Valley College with a degree in computer programing. He was employed at Rockford Mutual Insurance Co. before retiring in 1998.

He was active at St. James Church and was ordained a deacon on April 27, 1996. He helped many people through his service as a deacon at St. James and as a chaplain at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie; children Peggy (Rich) Fuller, Laurie Hart, Mark (Wendy) Magee and Nancy (David) Little; and by 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Barb (Don) Sebby, Judy Keiser, Sharon Garcia, Bill (Leslie) Magee and Dave (Lorrie) Magee; brother-in-law, David Blank; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; daughter Ronda Magee Shafer; sister Delores “Bonnie” Blank; brothers-in-law David Keiser and Fortunato Garcia; and niece Debbie (Weezy) Garcia.

The funeral Mass was May 2. A memorial will be determined at a later date.
