AURORA—On June 16, eight campers enjoyed a Fantastic Friday at Abbey Farms, here.

Held on the grounds of Marmion Abbey, this second summer of kids’ activities featured an expanded schedule of Monday-Thursday camps during the last three weeks of June, each with different, age-appropriate themes.

The new Fantastic Fridays for kindergarteners through fifth-graders invited campers to explore activities including a mega-drop slide, a zipline (below left) and a jumping pillow (left) and some indoor art projects (below).

Jackie Rakers, coordinator of volunteers and educational programs, and high school volunteer Brooke Speranza joined in as everyone bounced on the pillow and chanted, “High, High, High, High!”

Rakers says Abbey Farm, developed in 1949, includes an emporium, used for wedding receptions most weekends. The farm also hosts a number of field trips during the school year and is known for its annual Pumpkin Days and Christmas Trees farm.
