Evening in the Tropics to Be Aug. 26 in Rockford

ROCKFORD—For the 16th year, Hope for Haitians is hosting the Evening in the Tropics dinner. It will be  Aug. 26, 6-9 p.m. at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road, in Rockford.  

The goal is to provide 60 families with a new home where they can live securely and in dignity, no longer fearing  the weather or other natural disasters. Learn about the 14th village in Garde Saline, Haiti, and the proposed 15th village in Pistere, Haiti.

Cocktail reception and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person.

Silent auction items include original art and collectibles from the Caribbean and Latin America, designer jewelry,  destination travel items, sports packages, dining packages, and more.

Hope for Haitians is a charitable organization founded and based in Rockford.
