Johnsburg Students, Alumni March in Parade
September 27, 2018
JOHNSBURG—On Sept. 9, St. John the Baptist  School took to the streets for the Johnsburg Saufen Und Spiel parade as part of the parish’s 175th anniversary.

Alumni gathered to support the school and walk with current students in the parade.

John Huemann, this year’s parade marshal and alumni class of 1962, carried a sign supporting the school.

Family generations also came out in support. Linda Merrill, class of 1997 walked with her son, future class of 2027 and her father, Joe Huemann, class of 1972 (and John Heumann’s brother).

Peggy Berlin-Sena, a 1990 graduate, walked with her daughters, future graduates in the classes of 2025 and 2027.

This year, St. John student enrollment is up more than 53 percent over last year.

“The students have a fellowship and grade level doesn’t matter to them,” said parent Gretchen Short. “I see it every morning while dropping my son off. Students will hold the door into school every morning for each other, no matter their age. They support and lift each other up.”
