St. Elizabeth’s Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Feast
November 22, 2018
ROCKFORD—More than 300 people lined up outside the doors of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Community Center here on a chilly morning Nov. 14.

Inside, the warm kitchen was buzzing with volunteers filling steam tables with hot turkey and dressing and fluffy mashed potatoes, pulling warm rolls from the oven and loading the dessert table with a variety of pies.

This was the scene of the annual waiting for a turkey dinner with all the traditional trimmings Nov. 14.
Catholic Charities, which operates the center, sponsors the luncheon.

For the first time, Father John McNamara, parochial vicar at St. Bridget Parish in Loves Park, joined the luncheon. The former chef said a blessing with the volunteers who prepared and served the lunch fare.

He later blessed the meal for those who came to share it.
