St. Edward CCHS Math Chair Honored
December 13, 2018
ELGIN—Pam Klein of Elgin, mathematics department chair and 25-year teacher at St. Edward Central Catholic High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the school’s St. Gregory the Great Award.

The award honors faculty or staff members for outstanding commitment to the education and faith of St. Edward students.

A graduate of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, Klein “grew up in Catholic education.”

For Klein, Catholic schools are all in the family. Her parents both worked at Catholic schools, and her sister teaches second grade at a Catholic elementary school in Dubuque.

“It is very important for me to be able to share my faith and moral beliefs daily with students and peers. I can do that at St. Edward,” she said.

“Of course, I think it’s very important for students to know their math, but to me the education of the whole child is so much more important,” she continued. “Their growth spiritually and morally, to grow up to be successful young adults is probably the most important gift we can give them.”

Klein and her husband, Kevin, have two adult children, Christopher and Courtney.

She will be honored at St. Edward Central Catholic High School’s 30th annual Tidal Wave benefit on April 6, 2019.
