Plans Underway for Diocesan Trip to Springfield
March 7, 2019
DIOCESE—In what has become an annual trek, Catholics in the Diocese of Rockford will be traveling to Springfield to visit with legislators on March 20.

Sponsored by the Life and Family Evangelization Office, the focus of this year’s trip will be expressing opposition to newly proposed changes in Illinois abortion laws.

If passed, these bills would:

â–º Repeal the state’s ban on partial birth abortions,

â–º Define abortion as a fundamental right,

â–º Remove abortion clinics from regulations for serious medical procedures,

â–º Remove the requirement that only doctors can perform abortions, and

â–º Repeal the current Parental Notification Law, among other things.

“Please join us and others ... on March 20,” said Jennifer Collins, director of the Life and Family Evangelization Office. “Your help is needed.”

There is still time to join the diocesan caravan to Springfield. Learn more or sign up at www.rockforddiocese.org/life.

Inidividuals who are unable to travel to Springfield  on March 20 may show their opposition to the legislation by visiting the Catholic Conference of Illinois Website at https://www.ilcatholic.org/abortion-appears-on-the-agenda-of-the-illinois-legislature/.
