St. Mary CCW in McHenry Raises Funds for Parish, Charity
June 13, 2019
MCHENRY—St Mary Council of Catholic Women here presented a check for $600 to McHenry Home of the Sparrow on May 20.
As part of its ongoing mis sion to serve, St. Mary’s CCW initiated a Wishing Well fund-raiser to buy a tent for parish events, announcing that a portion would be given to Home of the Sparrow.
With a goal of $5,000 set, parishioners generously responded, exceeding the goal in only five weeks.
Involvement and service to the community is part of CCW’s identity. The donation to Home of the Sparrow supports their mission: To provide Hope, Opportunity and Support that empowers women and children as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
Matthew Kostecki, executive director; Debbie, DeGraw, vice president of marketing and development, and Jennifer Kolarczyk, volunteer program coordinator accepted the donation from St. Mary CCW officers.
St. Mary CCW is working on its next event to help the community, the St. Mary 69th Annual Rummage Sale, scheduled June 20-22 at Montini Middle School.
Families are able to stretch dollars and treasure hunt in the new tent, the gym, the cafeteria and eleven classrooms.
As in the past, proceeds from the rummage sale will benefit the parish, school and community.
