Aurora Troop 26 Celebrates Centennial
September 19, 2019
AURORA—On Sept.1, Boy Scouts of America Troop 26 celebrated its 100th anniversary chartered by Holy Angels Parish in Aurora.

The troop attended 11 a.m. Mass together followed by a banquet downstairs in Connor Hall.

Past and present members of the troop and their families were invited. Over 100 people attended.

Current youth members of the troop opened the centennial celebration banquet with a flag ceremony including recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

An opening prayer was offered by Father Michael Lavan, pastor of Holy Angels.

Jim Olson, current scoutmaster, welcomed everyone attending.

Past and present scoutmasters of the troop were recognized, as were Eagle Scouts.

The event concluded with a Court of Honor where the current youth members were recognized for their recent achievements. This included the presentation of the rank of Eagle Scout to Joseph Wagner.

There was plenty of time for past members to reunite with old friends and reminisce about their adventures in Scouting.

They could also view the many pictures, troop memorabilia including old uniforms, patches, books, and Scouting magazines on display.
