Boylan Red Ribbon Fundraiser to Help Poor Clares
January 28, 2021
ROCKFORD—The Northern Illinois Red Ribbon Program at Boylan Central Catholic High School is raising money to help the Poor Clares in Rockford.

Any amount is welcome, but donors of $20 or more will receive a Poor Clares facemask featuring a cross and the words “May God Protect You.”

Donations can be sent until Feb. 14 to the Red Ribbon Program, c/o Boylan High School, 4000 St. Francis Dr., Rockford, IL. 61103.

A check will be presented to Mother Dominica, Abbess of the Poor Clares.

Last year, the Boylan girl’s basketball team sponsored the fund drive but with the Illinois High School Association pausing this year’s season, the Red Ribbon Program has taken over.

The Red Ribbon Program is in its 31st year of supporting community programs and organizations, especially those engaging youth.

Corpus Christi Monastery was founded in 1916 to be a sanctuary of adoration and reparation in the heart of the Diocese of Rockford.  The Poor Clares do not have a stable income apart from alms.

The sisters receive daily calls for prayer requests from members of the community of all denominations. The nuns retain an unbroken tradition of rising at midnight and continuing with prayer throughout the day for the many intentions presented to them.
