Deacon Robert Plazewski Dies May 15

ELGIN—Deacon Robert E. Plazewski, 83, of Elgin, Illinois, died on Saturday May 15, 2021, with his family around him. 
 
He was born on March 19, 1938, to Helen (Grogan) and Edward Plazewski in Chicago. 
 
After his discharge from the U.S. Air Force Veteran, he married his wife, Mary Jane, in 1964. They raised three children. 
 
Deacon Plazewski was a lifelong public servant, and retired owner of a delivery service. 
 
He was ordained a permanent deacon for  the Rockford Diocese in 1994, and was a member of St. Laurence Parish, here. 
 
He was also a member of  the American Legion Post 57. 
 
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, his children: Joseph (Sandy), Theresa, and Judy (Tom) Jacobs; his grandchildren: Jacob and Nicholas Plazewski, Kristina (Eddie) Roebuck, Christopher Coburn and William Vebert; and three great grandchildren: Carly, Mason, and Ernest IV Roebuck. 
 
A visitation was Wednesday, May 19, at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin. The funeral Mass was Thursday, May 20, 2021, at St. Laurence Parish. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. 
 
Memorials may be made to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago or to St. Laurence Parish.
