Great Lakes Conference Calls Catholic Men

DEKALB—The annual Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Conference will return for its 26th year on Nov. 20. This year’s conference will be held at the Holmes Student Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. The conference will open at 8 a.m. and formally begin at 8:50 a.m.
The conference will call men to live by Jesus’ words to his apostles: “Be not afraid.” Participants will learn how to be a person of hope.
Speakers will include Super Bowl champion Matt Birk, author Father Larry Richards, Catholic apologist Karlo Broussard and former NFL player Kevin O’Brien. The master of ceremonies will be Wayne Messmer, longtime National Anthem singer for the Chicago Cubs.
Music, prayerful reflection, Mass, and lunch will be provided. The conference is open to married, single and divorced men including fathers, teenage sons and grandfathers.
Costs vary based on vocation, age and registration status. The conference will cost $5 for deacons and $15 for participants of college age and younger.
The conference will cost $45 for those above college age who have registered by Oct. 31. Registration afterward will cost $50. The cost at the door will be $55.
