Fall Breakfasts, Brunch to Welcome Diocesan Catholics

DIOCESE—Catholics in the Diocese of Rockford are invited to the following prayer breakfasts and brunches:
McHenry County Prayer Breakfast, Crystal Lake
CRYSTAL LAKE—The 11th annual McHenry County Catholic Prayer Breakfast will be held Sept. 24, here.
The day will begin with a 7:30 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. The breakfast will follow at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn-Crystal Lake, 800 S. Rte 31.
Father Donald Calloway, vocation director for the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, will be the keynote speaker. John Jost, the associate director of admissions for Thomas Aquinas College in California, will speak on the impact of Catholic education.

Ecumenical Brunch, Rockford
ROCKFORD—The 24th annual Ecumenical Benefit Brunch will be held Oct. 1 at St. Bernadette Parish Hall, 2400 Bell Ave. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and brunch starts at 9 a.m.
The brunch is co-sponsored by the Rockford Deanery Council of Catholic Women and the North Conference of Northern Illinois Synod Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Nick
Parnello will be the featured guest speaker and will speak on the Operation Fallen Flags and LZ Wings for Veterans projects. A silent auction will raise money for Operation Fallen Flags.
The brunch menu includes quiches, cheesy potatoes, meats, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.
The cost is $15/person. All men and women are invited to attend. Reservations and checks are due by Sept. 23. Find registrations at all deanery parish offices.

Magnificat Prayer Breakfast, Huntley
HUNTLEY—The 40th Magnificat Prayer Breakfast will be held Oct. 15, 9 a.m.-noon, at St. Mary Parish, 10307 Dundee Rd. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
Kendra Von Esh will be the keynote speaker. Once a corporate executive, she stepped away to reconnect with her faith when she realized she was trying to “find something more,” as she explains on her website, https://kendravonesh.com. Von Esh is now a Catholic speaker, radio host, podcaster, vlogger and author.
Tickets are $30 through Oct. 1 and will be $40 afterward. Student and youth tickets are $20, and admission is free for priests, seminarians and religious brothers and sisters.
