STERLING—During the season of Advent, parishes throughout the Sterling deanery will hold communal penance services to help parishioners prepare for Christmas. 

 

Some penance services are private and open only to the hosting parish, but others are open to more than one parish. Services will be held at: 

 

-- Oregon—St. Mary Parish: Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m., including members of St. Mary Parish in Polo;  

-- Sterling—Sacred Heart Parish: Dec. 13, 5:30 p.m., including members of St. Mary Parish in Sterling and St. Andrew Parish in Rock Falls; 

-- Fulton—Immaculate Conception Parish: Dec. 14, 6:30 p.m., including members of St. Patrick Parish in Albany; 

-- Sublette—Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish: Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m., including members of St. Mary Parish in West Brooklyn and St. Patrick Parish in Maytown; 

-- Dixon—St. Anne Parish: Dec. 19, 6 p.m., including members of St. Patrick Parish in Dixon; 

-- Morrison—St. Mary Parish: Dec. 20, 6:30 p.m.; and 

-- Amboy—St. Patrick Parish: Dec. 21, 6 p.m.
