Father Leo Petit Dies in Pennsylvania

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—Father Leo Petit, MSC, died on March 21, 2014, at Sacred Heart Villa, here.
Father Petit, was born in Batavia, on Oct. 18, 1926, to John and Elizabeth (Besch) Petit.  

After attending Marmion Academy in Aurora and Sacred Heart Mission Seminary in Geneva, he joined the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1945 and was ordained a priest on Nov. 30, 1951.   

Father Petit taught at Sacred Heart Seminary for 14 years and served as director of both communication and vocations, as well as performing foreign mission work in Colombia, South America.  He also served at St. Joseph Parish, Elgin, and Sacred Heart Parish, Aurora.  He retired in 2001.  

He is survived by three sisters: Mary Michels, Aurora; Betty Wolles, St. Charles; and Camille Kramer, Batavia.

His funeral was held at the Villa Chapel on March 28 with burial at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Ottsville, Pa.
