Priests  throughout the Rockford Diocese — including Bishop David Malloy (left)  — heard hundreds of confessions April 9. The bishop asked for the special day this Lent to give as many people as possible a chance to refresh their souls through the sacrament of reconciliation.

Bishop Malloy traveled to Dixon to hear confessions of Catholics incarcerated in the state correctional center there. Other priests remained at their own parishes or helped by hearing confessions at neighboring  parishes throughout the day.
