ROCKFORD—“The Joes” have already established a reputation for sharing their faith with their handiwork, and are passing it on to some Titans. Twenty-three junior boys from Boylan Central Catholic High School in Rockford joined with about a dozen members of the St. Joseph and Sons men’s group, July 11-12, to tackle projects at Bishop Lane Retreat Center.
Students Matt Baudhin, Matt Cyrs and Tommy Sentovich organized the effort, and dads Tom Baudhin and Michael Cyrs helped them coordinate with “The Joes.”
They painted a conference room and hallway, drilled chapel chairs for new kneelers, spread mulch and trimmed greenery on walking pathways, and put a new roof on the center’s outdoor chapel.
The boys also raised $42,000 for the retreat center, says Ann Marie Coyle, who says the bulk of the money will be used for one or more big projects being presented to the retreat center board.
The students stayed at the retreat center for three nights and heard spiritual and motivational talks and took part in fellowship each evening.
