HUNTLEY—Special Religious Development (SPRED) leaders from around the Rockford Diocese talked about their ministry to educate special needs people in the Catholic Faith at their annual year-end meeting at St. Mary Parish in Huntley late this summer.
They discussed successes and challenges of the past year, and made plans for the 2014-2015 SPRED year.
Deborah LaPorte, from St. Thomas More Parish in Elgin, assumed the role of diocesan SPRED director.
Ann Walder, from Holy Cross Parish in Batavia, volunteered to be the public relations and advertising chair.
Claire Perez will continue, for the time, to be the reporter.
Julia Hess, from the SPRED Center in Chicago, provided the group with the information to conduct future year-end meetings and other activities independently of the Chicago organization.
Catechist training, fundraising, financial accountability and establishing a SPRED Rockford Diocesan website, were also discussed.
