Rockford Mom-of-Many Inspires Magnificat Fall Breakfast-Goers
December 12, 2014

MCHENRY—The McHenry Chapter of Magnificat, MaryMother of the Eucharist, held its fall prayer breakfast Oct. 25, at Church of Holy Apostles, here.

Its 150 guests, some from Indiana and Wisconsin, gathered to hear speaker and local resident Mary Vogrinc. She is the former director of evangelization for Holy Family Parish in Rockford,  is active with “Light of the World Evangelization Ministries” and is a coordinator of Elizabeth Ministries at her home parish.

After a catered, buffet breakfast and lively praise music from the group “Peace,” the audience listened to Vogrinc’s talk of inspiring testimony and warm wit. She talked about how God has touched her throughout her life from the time, at age 16, that she found an abandoned baby to the difficulties and joys of raising five biological children and fostering 54 others, many of whom have special needs.

Using Scripture, she talked about how God has changed her through his Word and helped her through many of life’s trials.

Then she asked eveyone at the luncheon  to use the same Scripture to search their own lives and see where God is calling them to change, to become more like Jesus to others.

Marilyn Gauwitz of McHenry said, “Mary was wonderful and I was so inspired by her joy and willingness to serve the Lord by serving his little ones. Her humor was just what I needed.”

Valerie Kwasigroch, also of McHenry added, “Our speaker really connected with me as a mom of a large family. She helped me see more of the beauty of my family and less of the stress. She made me laugh and soul search at the same time!”

The McHenry Chapter of Magnificat sponsors a prayer breakfast each spring and fall.
