SOMONAUK–Author and filmmaker Abbie Reese will share a behind-the-scenes glimpse of “Chosen (Custody of the Eyes)” — a feature-length documentary-in-progress, at St. John the Baptist Parish here, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

When completed, it will form a portrait of a 27-year-old joining the Poor Clares’ Corpus Christi Monastery in Rockford.

Reese is author of “Dedicated to God: An Oral History of Cloistered Nuns,” which was the first One Diocese, One Book selection of The Observer Book Club.

“Chosen” is a collaborative work, made with and focused on a novice whom Reese met in 2005.
Editing is underway and

Reese is still working to secure funds to cover the costs of post-production.
