Rosary Beads Win State

AURORA—The Rosary High School Beads swim team brought home the state championship trophy.  Top winners were:

n 200 Medley Relay with time of 1:43.09 (Athena Ye, Sydney VanOvermeiren, Camryn
Streid and Emily Ryan), a  new school record.

n 200 Free Relay with time of 1:33.72 (Athena Ye, Kathryn Mueller, Alexis Yager, and Emily Ryan), pool and new school record.

n Alexis Yager in 200 IM with time of 2:01.58, a  new school record.

n Athena Ye in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 54.97, a  new school record.

The final score of 192 points is also a school record for most points scored at a state competition.

Coached by Bill Schalz, the Beads were undefeated on the season, and won the conference championship and sectional title.

Rosary had a four-year run as state champions from 2006 through 2009. The team finished second in 2014.
A celebration rally was held Nov. 22 at the high school.
