DIOCESE—Putting a picture on a process is the idea behind the tagline and logo for the diocesan strategic planning process for Catholic schools.

“The new logo is just one more step in defining our mission and vision in this planning process,” said diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Michael Kagan.

The graphic was designed by PR Strategies and Communications/PmS Advertising of Elgin.

The meaning of the phrase and the logo itself breaks down like this:

Faith Forward — These words were chosen because faith compels all people to move ahead and seek a sacramental life in Christ that is knowledgable, faithful and faith-filled — a life that recognizes that God and faith make all things possible.  And that faith, well lived, moves all God’s people to the ultimate destination of everlasting life at God’s right hand.

Building Our Blueprint for Catholic Schools — Because our faith compels all we do, all Catholics in this strategic planning process are partners and, ultimately, benefactors of good planning and solid direction.

The graphic — In the logo itself, the Catholic faith, which is the centerpiece of all Catholic schools, is conveyed not just by the words but also by the cross and the yellow circle which also represents the eucharistic life. The words in blue and in the grid, represent the visual of a blueprint, something required to map out a practical and solid construction process. And of course, “schools are all about people working together. The graphic seeks to represent all the families, teachers, students, administrators and parish supporters that make Catholic schools not only possible, but great,” Kagan explained. And the arrow signifies the forward action and thinking of the diocese that is being expressed by engaging in the entire strategic process, he said.
