Deacon James Hudzinski Dies July 24 at Home

ROCKTON—Deacon James B. Hudzinski, 64, of Rockton died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Rockford, the son of John and Eileen Hudzinski. He married Anne Marie Roper at Christ the Teacher University Pairh in DeKalb on Oct. 25, 1975.

He graduated from Rock Valley College and attended Northern Illinois University.

Deacon Hudzinski worked for Jewel Foods for 25 years, Country Fair IGA for 10 years and Walmart for 19 years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Parish in Rockford, Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He was named man of the year at St. Stanislaus in 1997.

He served on the parish council and was instrumental in starting adoration at the parish. He decorated for holidays and special occasions for more than 20 years. He also served as religious education director.

He was ordained a deacon on May 2, 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Anne; children, James Paul (Michelle), Nicholas John (Amanda); grandchildren, Ethan, Nolan and Sophie; sister, Beverly (Jim Robertson) Sullivan; brother, John (Madeline) Hudzinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen Hudzinski; a brother, David Hudzinski; and a niece, Thresa.

The funeral Mass was Friday, July 29, 2016, in St. Stanislaus. Visitation was Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29 in St. Stanislaus.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 201 Buckbee St, Rockford, IL 61104.
