SCY, Bishop Malloy Celebrate Youth in Freeport July 31
August 4, 2016
Bishop David Malloy visited the Stateline Catholic Youth gathering July 31 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Freeport.
He chatted with brothers Kenton and Michael Johnson, St. Thomas Aquinas parishioners.
When Kenton told the bishop he plans to study biology in college, Bishop Malloy said that was his major too, adding “And I became a priest. You should think about that, too. We need you.”
Michael was an altar server at the Mass before the dinner, prepared by Knights of Columbus with dessert by the Marian Society.
During his talk, Bishop Malloy encouraged the youth to “listen to your faith.”
He reminded them that the Catholic faith “treats you like an adult. ... You have to open your heart to faith yourself.”
