ELGIN, ROCKFORD—The Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas More Parish, Elgin, and Holy Family Parish, Rockford, invite all to beat the winter chill at their chili cook-offs.
– Elgin: KC Council #654 will hold “Chili for Charity” Feb. 28, 3:30-6:30 p.m., at the St. Thomas More gym, 1625 W. Highland Ave.
Proceeds benefit Elgin Catholic schools, the Elgin Soup Kitchen, religious education programs and more.
The dinner will include chilis, hot dogs, sides and beverages. There will aso be family entertainment and raffles.
Cooks should visit https://uknight.org/CouncilSite/CouncilNews.asp?CNO=654 for contest applications. The entry fee for adults is $20/person; students of Catholic schools in the area are free (10 students only). The first place student prize is $50; adult prizes range from $50 to $400.

– Rockford: KC Council #13123 will hold their chili cook-off Feb. 21, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at St. Gabriel Hall, 4401 Highcrest Rd. For cooks, entering chili is $10. There is no cost for attendees. All attendees will receive two free tasting tickets.
