Many Parishes Plan to Honor Jesus’ Earthly Father This March

These parishes are among those in the Rockford Diocese will honor St. Joseph around his feast day March 19.

CRYSTAL LAKE

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 1023 McHenry Ave.

St. Joseph table (potluck dinner): March 21, 5-7 p.m. in the parish hall. Guests are encouraged wear red and bring meatless Italian dishes to share. Free will donations go to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and food pantry.

DIXON

St. Patrick, 612 S. Highland Ave.

St. Joseph dinner: March 19, 5-7 p.m., in the parish Holloway Center. The menu includes chicken parmesan, rigatoni, salad, breadsticks and desserts. There will be a musical performance at 6 p.m. by “Musica Vitae,” a chamber music group promoting the value of human life. Free will offering.

ELBURN

St. Joseph altar: March 14-15; altar blessing March 15 after the 5 p.m. Mass. Volunteers sought to help with take-down March 15 around 6 p.m.

GENOA

St. Catherine of Genoa, 340 S. Stott St.

St. Joseph table: March 21, 5:30 p.m. in the parish St. Anthony Hall. The parish’s first St. Joseph Table will be a simple meal of bread, meatless spaghetti and desserts.

St. Anthony of Padua, 1010 Ferguson St.

St. Joseph altar: The oldest St. Joseph Altar in the Rockford Diocese will be March 14-15. Altar blessing will be March 14 after the 4:30 p.m. Mass, followed by a time for viewing with coffee and cookies. Sunday, March 15, will be the traditional meatless pasta dinner, served noon-3 p.m. The hall is handicap-accessible. Carry-out available. Cost: none; donations welcome.

St. Joseph altar: March 15, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with altar viewing, pasta lunch and Italian cookies.
