ROCKFORD, BATAVIA—The Diocese of Rockford Vocations Office’s “Called by Name” campaign is now in its second phase, and all the faithful are invited to participate in efforts to encourage vocations to the diocesan priesthood.
The campaign began on Good Shepherd Sunday, April 26, and asked parishioners to honor and share the names of faithful young men in the diocese. Since then, the office has received over 800 cards with names.
Now the office invites these men along with their friends and families to “Called by Name” evenings. Nights will start with adoration and a guided holy hour for vocations, along with talks on the priesthood. Afterward there will be a
social hour and refreshments, with time to meet current diocesan seminarians.
Anyone who desires to pray for and support vocations in the Diocese of Rockford is also welcome.
There will be two more “Called by Name” events this summer:
– July 16, 7 p.m., at Holy Family Parish, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford. The holy hour will be at 7 p.m., and the social will be at 8 p.m. Father Jack Reichardt, vocation director, will give the talk.
– July 30, 7 p.m., at Holy Cross Parish, 2300 Main St., Batavia. The holy hour will be at 7 p.m., and the social will be at 8 p.m. Father Thomas Doyle, spiritual director of Newman Central Catholic High School, Sterling, will give the talk.
