‘Called by Name’ Nights to Encourage Vocations

May 21, 2026

CRYSTAL LAKE—The Diocese of Rockford Vocations Office’s “Called by Name” campaign is entering its second phase, and all the faithful are once again invited to participate in this effort to encourage vocations to the diocesan priesthood.

The campaign began on Good Shepherd Sunday, April 26, and asked parishioners to honor and share the names of faithful young men in the diocese. Since then, the office has received over 620 cards with names. Now the office invites these men along with their friends and families to evenings of prayer that will be held throughout the summer.

Anyone who desires to pray for and support vocations in the Diocese of Rockford is also welcome.

The first “Called by Name” evening will be May 28, 7-9 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

The night will start with adoration and a guided holy hour for vocations, including a reflection on the priesthood by a vocation director. Afterward, at 8 p.m., there will be a social hour  and refreshments with current diocesan seminarians.
