New Religious Orders to Serve in Rockford Diocese

Priests from three religious orders new to the Rockford Diocese have been assigned with permission from their religious superiors, to work and serve here.

Heralds of the Good News

Fathers Peddineni Arogyaswamy and Maddala Jayanthi Babu, who will be serving at St. Michael Parish and St. Mary in Galena and Holy Trinity in Scales Mound, are members of the Heralds of the Good News, HGN, which is an international clerical missionary group [Society of Apostolic Life] rather than a traditional religious order. Founded in India by Rev. Father Jose Kaimlett Oct. 14, 1984, HGN focuses primarily on promoting priestly vocations, training seminarians, and supplying missionary priests to dioceses worldwide experiencing a shortage of local clergy.

Society of the Catholic Apostolate

Fathers Pullayyababu Duggirala and Shinu T. Kaichiramattahil, who will serve at St. Peter in Geneva and St. Mary in Huntley, are priests from the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, whose members are commonly known as the Pallottines. Founded in 1835 by St. Vincent Pallotti, the Pallottines are an international community of priests, brothers, and laypeople dedicated to reviving faith and rekindling charity worldwide. They serve in more than 45 countries.

Society of Christ

Father Adam Slominski, who will serve at St. Margaret Mary, Algonquin, is from the Society of Christ, SChr. The Society of Christ is a religious congregation of priests, brothers, and seminarians dedicated primarily to providing spiritual care and pastoral assistance to Polish migrants living outside of Poland. The SChr was founded Sept. 8, 1932, in Poland by Cardinal August Hlond and Father Ignacy Posadzy. Their mission goes beyond standard pastoral duties by cultivating patriotic spirits, social life, and Polish culture. They have a strong presence in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia.
