ROCKFORD—Janet Jensen has a long title: Safe Environment Coordinator and Hiring/Human Resources and Compliance Specialist.
She comes to the Diocese of Rockford with lots of experience: 37 years of human resource management experience and more than 20 years of compliance work, mostly in for-profit companies and most recently in a skilled nursing care setting. She heard about the job opportunity at the Rockford Diocese through an online job site.
Born in Kentucky and raised in Chicago, the cradle-Catholic has been married to Randy for 37 years, and they have two adult children and four grandchildren who live in DeKalb. She and her husband have lived in Genoa for almost 20 years and are parishioners at St. Catherine of Genoa there. Her schooling includes a Chicago area public school and Kaplan University.
Jensen says that her son is the musician of the family (bass and lead guitar in a band), but she appreciates music of all kinds and dancing. Her home includes a mixed breed dog from the Tails rescue shelter in DeKalb, and his name is Bailee.
Jensen adds that she has spent most of her first week on the job going over and learning about the safe environment program and its videos and materials. She adds that she is happy to be back doing human resources and compliance work, which she calls her “niche” work.
