SPRINGFIELD—On March 19, the Diocese of Rockford will lead a one-day pilgrimage to the Illinois Pro-Life March at the Capitol, here.
The Life and Family Evangelization Office has plans for comfortable motor coaches providing round-trip travel from diocesan locations.
Current plans are for early-morning departure from St. Mary Parish, Huntley, picking up at southern parish locations; and departure from Sacred Heart Parish, Marengo, picking up at western and southern parish locations. Further pickup sites will be determined by registrations.
The itinerary includes midmorning Mass with Springfield’s Bishop Thomas Paprocki, lunch, 1 p.m. rally followed by the March around the Capitol; 3:30 p.m. adoration and 4:30 p.m. departure for home. Estimated arrival is 7-9 p.m.
Lunch is bring-your-own brown bag, and dinner will be a stop at a fast-food restaurant on the road. Pilgrims are welcome to bring additional food.
Costs cover events for the day and a diocesan pilgrimage baseball cap. The cost for individual pilgrims is $80. A donation from the Knights of Columbus is reducing the cost for youth/school/family groups, which is $60 per person. Please inform the LiFE Office if you are planning to bring a group; the office will provide forms to distribute to groups. All group leaders and chaperones must comply with the Diocese of Rockford Safe Environment requirements.
All registration forms and payments are due by Feb. 26. Space is limited; spots will be filled in the order in which forms and payments are received.
