Knights Combine to Donate Ultrasound Machine
January 28, 2021
ROCHELLE—A donation in excess of $40,000 from the Knights of Columbus helped the Abigail Women’s Center in Mendota buy a new 3D/4D ultrasound machine.

Knights of Columbus councils within the Andrew D. Mitchell Assembly from Rochelle, Somonauk, Lee, DeKalb and Sycamore donated $20,940 to cover half of the cost of the machine as well as delivery and installation.

The remaining $19,740 was donated by the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus in New Haven, Conn.

The machine is expected to arrive in February.

The project started in January 2020 with a goal of donating the money to Abigail Women’s Center by the end of the year.

After the five local councils raised half the money by September, they requested matching funds from the Supreme Council.

The national check arrived at the women’s center in early December, and representatives from the councils delivered the balance of the funds on Dec. 14.
