Pandemic Pivot: ACC Show to be Online with Limited Live Audience
March 4, 2021
AURORA—Aurora Central Catholic High School’s spring musical will go on with pandemic protocols.
“Bright Star,” written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, will be staged March 12-13 at 7 p.m. and March 14 at 3 p.m.

Phillip A. Nohl, play director and ACC drama instructor, said the production will be live streamed on auroracentral.com and before an audience limited to 50 seats for families of actors.

According to Nohl, the production is socially distanced, while maintaining a theatrical experience. Actors perform in chairs on stage, socially distanced and with minimal blocking and choreography.

He added, “Beautiful recorded bluegrass music frames an unbelievable true story of a young couple who has a baby.”

The story is told by Alice, the baby’s mother, as she reflects on what happens to her in the 1920s and 1940s, after her father and her boyfriend’s father secretly agree to put the baby up for adoption.

Nohl said he hopes to raise $4,000 from ticket sales and donations to fund next year’s productions.Donations may be made on auroracentral.com.
