Deacon Arthur Holt Dies May 12

WALWORTH, WIS.—Deacon Arthur C. Holt, Jr., 89, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Golden Years Nursing Home, here. 
 
He was born to Arthur and Mary (Repas) Holt, Sr., on June 28, 1931, in Waukegan. 
 
On Aug. 2, 1958, he married  Kathleen R. Matthes at St. Gilbert Parish in Grayslake. Together they had five children.
 
He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as an IC-man making first class petty officer in less than four years. 
 
He then went to on to work for ATT for 35 years, retiring as a regional manager in 1985.
 
After his first retirement, he worked for 20 years for the Chicago Historical Society until his second retirement. 
 
He was very active in his religious life, being a member of the Knights of Columbus, singing in the church choir with his wife, where he frequently sang solo, and serving on the Marian Central  Catholic High School board. 
 
In 1991, he was ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church and served at St. Patrick Parish in Hartland for many years. He also was inducted along with his wife into the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.
 
He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen (in 2017); son-in-law David Seegers; infant sister Mary Katherine; sister Rev. Joanne Martins; and two brothers Richard and Jack Holt.
 
He is survived by his children: Elizabeth Seegers, Sheila Holt, Christopher (Carolyn) Holt, Patrick Holt and Michael Holt; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;  siblings; James (Debra) Holt, Mary Lou Freundt, Tom (Tamara) Holt, and Tim (Betty) Holt; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Visitation preceded a funeral Mass at St. Patrick Parish in Hartland, on Monday, May 17, 2021. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery.
