A Wise Way to Travel to Jesus

ROCKFORD—Since Dec. 1, the three wise men have been looking high and low for Jesus throughout the Diocesan Administration Center.

They’ve been spotted inside in various offices on various floors, in the elevator and outside the building, even checking out the Canadian geese that hadn’t yet headed South.

Pictures of their travels have been posted each day on the diocesan Education Office Facebook page by Sara Danielson, administrative assistant for the Religious Education Office, and Heather Dunaway, Safe Environment coordinator. Danielson says, “We have faith they’ll end up finding the Baby Jesus” by the feast of the Epiphany.

The two women see the search as “a fun way to showcase the buildings and different departments, and it is a fun alternative to the ‘Elf on a Shelf’” secular holiday search enjoyed by many families, Danielson says. In fact, she calls the wise men idea “like a Catholic elf on a shelf — simple, fun and a possible new tradition that people can do at home.”
