Father William Etheredge to Transition From High School to Parish Assignment
March 10, 2022
AURORA—Father William Etheredge, Area Superintendent and Chief Administrative Officer at Aurora Central Catholic High School (ACC), will conclude his service at the high school and transition to a parish assignment when a successor is hired.

Father Etheredge made the announcement Feb. 28 to staff and on March 2 to students and families, so the search for a new Area Superintendent for Aurora Central Catholic High School can begin, according to diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Vito DeFrisco.

After meeting earlier in February with Bishop of Rockford, David Malloy, Father Etheredge accepted an invitation to take an assignment as a parish pastor. His new parish assignment will be announced later this year when his successor at ACC is selected, and he will continue at ACC until then.

“My time at Aurora Central Catholic has been filled with many blessings, and I am very grateful to the entire ACC community for their support through the years. I am confident that the rich tradition of Catholic educational excellence at Aurora Central Catholic will continue under the guidance of a new principal,” Father Etheredge said in his announcement to parents.

Father Etheredge has led the ACC family of families and staff for the past 22 years.

While clergy assignments can be announced at any time according to the canon law of the Catholic Church, many priests are assigned and reassigned at the time new priests are ordained. Ordination for the Diocese of Rockford for 2022 will be celebrated June 4.
