St. Bernadette to Hold Sessions For Energy Bill Assistance

ROCKFORD—St. Bernadette Parish will host four opportunities for families to apply for energy bill assistance through LIHEAP, the Illinois Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
 
The program provides a one-time benefit to eligible low-income households to assist in paying for winter energy services.  
 
Dates are Dec. 21, Jan. 25, Feb. 22 and March 22, all from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church building, 2400 Bell Ave. 
 
Eligibility Guide
Total household 30-day gross income (before taxes) must be no more than the amount listed (at right) per household size (at left).

   7 .........................$6,985
   8 .........................$7,324
For households with more than 8 members, add $590 for each person. 
  Attendees should bring: 
 
  -- Photo ID (driver’s license, state-issued ID, work or school ID or FOID card);
 
  -- Proof of 30-Day gross income (for all household members 18 or older*; this includes TANF, child support, SSI or SSD, SSDI);
 
  -- Current (most recent) heating and electric bills (both front and back);
 
  -- A copy of your lease (if utilities are included in rent); and
 
  -- Social Security cards for all household members; must be original, no copies. Birth certificates are accepted for children under 6 months.
 
* If anyone 18+ in the household claims zero income, they must show proof of public benefits (i.e., SNAP, public housing verification or a letter from someone providing financial assistance).
