Media, Arts Events Planned in Diocese

The following are media and arts-related events coming up around the diocese. 
 
 FREEPORT—Musical parish mission: St. Joseph Parish will hold a two-night parish mission Feb. 15-16, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the church building at 229 W. Washington Place. The mission, “Igniting the Light of Christ Within You,” will be led by singer, musician and composer Paul Koleske. 
 
 HUNTLEY—Film and discussion series: St. Mary Parish will host a film and discussion series for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. Meetings are once a month, 3-4:30 p.m., on Sundays: Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, May 21, June 25, July 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24. Will be held at the parish hall, 10307 Dundee Rd. The series is made by Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries. Not recommended for anyone 17 years old and under. Cost: none. Register with Mary Fuller, 815-520-7549, cmhm@rockforddiocese.org
 
 AURORA—Art exhibit: The Dr. Scholl Gallery at Marmion Academy, 1000 Butterfield Rd., will host the art exhibit “Teachers and Students” Jan. 20-Feb. 24. Artists featured are Robert Wilson, a top ceramic educator, and Gregory Chapman, an award-winning teacher of drawing and painting who studied under Wilson in high school.  WOODSTOCK—Gregorian chant choir: St. Mary Parish’s Gregorian chant choir is seeking new members. The choir sings at the parish holy hour on fourth Tuesdays, starting at 6:30 p.m. Practices are Thursdays, 7:15-8:15 p.m., in the church building, 312 Lincoln Ave. Musical training and sheet music reading are not required; audio tracks will be provided.
