25 years: Father Steven Clarke
Father Steven Clarke was born in San Tome, Venezuela to William and Sally Clarke. He has lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Houston, Texas, and Walnut Creek, California, where his parents still reside. 
 
Father Clarke came to the Diocese of Rockford from the Legion of Christ after attending the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in Cheshire, Connecticut (1987) and apostolic practices in Washington, D.C. (1989-1991). He studied philosophy at Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (1991-1995) and Legionary University, Rome (1995-1998).
 
Father Clarke was ordained to the priesthood in Rome on Dec. 24, 1998, then worked for 15 years as a priest in Krakow. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Rockford on Aug. 25, 2016.
 
After arriving in the Rockford diocese, he first served as parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish, Woodstock (2012-2013) and as an associate master of ceremonies for the diocese.
 
Father Clarke became administrator (2013-2017) and then pastor (2017-present) at St. Joseph Parish in Harvard.
 
25 years: Father Brian Geary
Born in Evergreen Park to Donald and Helen (Fitzgerald) Geary, Father Brian Geary attended Quigley Seminary South, Chicago (1980-1984), and college at Marquette University, Milwaukee (1984-1988), Loyola Law School, Chicago (1898-1993). 
 
His seminary studies were at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, Mundelein (1994-1996) and Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland (1996-1998).
 
Father Geary was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Thomas G. Doran at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford, on May 16, 1998.
 
He served as parochial vicar at Holy Angels Parish, Aurora, teaching also at Aurora Central Catholic High School (1998-2000). He then served as parochial vicar at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford (2000-2002).
 
Father Geary was pastor at St. Patrick Parish, Rockford (2002-2008), then began service as pastor at St. James Parish, Belvidere (2008-present). He also served on the Liturgical Commission (2007-2012), and has been chaplain of the Knights of Columbus in Belvidere since 2010.

25 years: Father Jorge  Loaiza
Born in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia to Giberto and Maria Villa Loaiza, Father Jorge Loaiza attended Antonio Restrepo (School) in Medellin (1970-1977), college at Santo Domingo Sabio in Medellin (1978-1982), and Major Seminary in Cucuta, Columbia (1992-1994) and in Bogota, Colombia (1995-1998).

He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Acardio Bernal for the Arauca Diocese in Medellin, Arauca, Columbia, on Dec. 22, 1998. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Rockford on April 10, 2012.
 
Father Loaiza began service in the Rockford Diocese as parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Parish, Aurora (2009-2010), then served as parochial vicar at St. Nicholas, Aurora for the last half of 2010 before becoming parochial vicar at St. Mary, Elgin, and at St. Patrick, St. Charles (2010-2020).
He has served as parochial vicar at St. Peter Parish in South Beloit since Aug. 1, 2020.
 
25 years: Father Romeo Pavino
Born in Lucena City, Quezon, Philippines, to Ruben and Violeta (Lagasca) Pavino, Father Romeo Pavino attended school in the Philippines, high school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminary in Sariaya, Quezon, college at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Lipa City and studied theology at St. Alphonsus Regional Seminary in Lucena City.
 
He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Ruben T. Profugo of the Diocese of Lucena on Sept. 8, 1998.
 
Since arriving in the Diocese of Rockford, Father Pavino has served as parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Crystal Lake (2017-2018), and at Holy Cross, Batavia (2018-2021). From there, he became parochial administrator of St. Peter Parish, South Beloit, and Church of the Holy Spirit, Roscoe (2021-2022), and has been pastor of both parishes since June 15, 2022.
 
He also has been council chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Council 2191 since January 2020.
 
25 years: Father Akan Simon
Born in Uimon-Okon, Nigeria to Simon Essien Etim and Theophila (Clement) Simon, Father Akan Simon attended Queen of Apostles Minor Seminary in Abak, Nigeria (1978-1983), college at the Federal Government College there (1984-1985) and Seat of Wisdom Major Seminary, Owerri, Nigeria (1986-1990). He then attended Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland (1994-1998).
 
He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Thomas G. Doran at the Cathedral of St. Peter on May 16, 1998.
 
Father Simon served as parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Crystal Lake (1998-2000), and as parochial vicar at St. Bridget, Loves Park (2000-2001), also teaching at Boylan Central Catholic High School while there.
 
He was parochial vicar at St. Peter Parish, Geneva, 2001-2004 and taught at that time at Aurora Central Catholic High School. He then was parochial vicar at St. Patrick Parish, St. Charles (2004-2009) and taught at St. Edward Central Catholic High School during that time.
 
Father Simon was parochial vicar at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Crystal Lake (2009-2021) before coming to his current service as parochial vicar at Holy Family Parish, Rockford (2021-present).
 
10 years: Father Ryan Browning
Born in Charleston, Illinois, to James and Donna (February) Browning, Father Ryan Browning attended Eldorado High School (1991-1995), John A. Logan College in Carterville (1995-1997) and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale (1997-1999). He studied for the priesthood at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis (2007-2009), then at Pontifical University of St. Thomas, Rome (2009-2013), then studied an extra year there to earn a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) (2013-2014).
 
He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop David J. Malloy at the Cathedral of St. Peter on June 22, 2013.
 
Father Browning served as parochial vicar pro tempore at Holy Cross Parish, Batavia (2013-2014), then as parochial vicar at St. Patrick, St. Charles (2014-2016), then in that position at St. Bridget, Loves Park (2016-2019). He became administrator (2019-2020) at St. Thomas More Parish, Elgin, and became pastor there on July 1, 2020.
 
Father Browning also has served in the Diocese of Rockford as an associate master of ceremonies (2014-2019), as coordinator of EnCourage (2015-present), on the Bishop Lane Retreat Center Board (2016-2019), as Censor Liborium (2016-present), and as diocesan ethicist (2022-present), among other service positions.
 
His jubilee will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Parish with a special Mass on June 22, 6 p.m. On the weekend of June 24-25, receptions will be held after all Masses in the Chelsea Room, and all are welcome.
