Last Call for Young Men’s Discernment Retreats
July 6, 2023
LOVES PARK, GENEVA—Dates are approaching quickly for this summer’s two  Encounter retreats for young men discerning the priesthood. The one-day retreats, offered by the Diocese of Rockford’s Vocation Office, are led by diocesan seminarians and priests and include talks, games, Mass, confessions, and more.
Father Jack Reichardt, diocesan Director of Vocations, wrote that he hopes the retreats will be a “huge success — to reach as many young people as possible.”
Participants on each retreat will be placed in one of two “tracks” for different ages: Track One for seventh through ninth grade (12 years minimum) and Track Two for grades ten and up (generally, 25 years maximum, though exceptions can be made.)
There is no cost for the retreats. Dates, times and locations are:
-- July 15—Loves Park: St. Bridget Parish, 600 Clifford Ave., 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
-- July 22—Geneva: St. Peter Parish, 1891 Kaneville  Rd., 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Very short registration forms for both are at
Father Connor Orabutt, the diocese’s newest priest, recalled his reaction when he first heard the call to the priesthood: “I was aware that if God was calling me to do something with my life it was going to make
me the happiest.”
God is calling you to joy — is He calling you to be a priest? You are invited to come and see!
