 75 years
Sister Dorothy (David Ann) Thielk, OP
 
Sister Dorothy (David Ann) Thielk, OP, celebrates 75 years as an Adrian Dominican in 2023.
 
A native of Detroit, she graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1948 and entered the Adrian Dominican Congregation on June 27 that year. She professed first vows on Dec. 31, 1949, and final vows on Dec. 31, 1954.
 
Sister Dorothy holds a bachelor’s degree in German from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Detroit.
 
After early teaching assignments in Toledo and Chicago, Sister Dorothy came to the Diocese of Rockford to teach at St. Patrick School, St. Charles, from 1951 to 1954. She taught in the Diocese of Lansing until 1961, spending the rest of her ministerial life as a teacher and school administrator at schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit. She has been in active retirement since 2021 in Harrison Township, Michigan, outside of Detroit.

Sister Mary (Michaeleen Marie) Cullen, OP
 
Sister Mary (Michaeleen Marie) Cullen, OP, celebrates 70 years in 2023 as an Adrian Dominican.
 
A native of Chicago, she graduated from Providence High School in 1953 and entered the congregation in June of that year. She professed her first vows on Dec. 31, 1954, and her final (perpetual) vows on Dec. 31, 1959.
 
Sister Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena Heights College (University); a master’s degree in library science from the 
 
University of Chicago; and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University-Chicago.
 
After an early assignment as a teacher in Detroit, Sister Mary primarily served as a teacher or librarian at elementary and high schools in Illinois. Her ministries in the Diocese of Rockford including serving as a teacher and librarian at Mount St. Mary Academy in St. Charles from 1962 to 1966 and at Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford, 1967 to 1970. 
 
Her other years of service included library director at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind.; religion teacher and campus minister at Seton Academy in South Holland; and pastoral associate in Oak Lawn. 
 
Sister Mary is retired and living in Chicago Ridge.
