Ministry Formation Begins Aug. 19
August 10, 2023
DIOCESE—Opportunities are coming up quickly for Catholics in the Diocese of Rockford to grow in their relationship with God, deepen their faith, and grow as servant leaders through the diocese’s Ministry Formation Program.

The two-year formation program begins Aug. 19 with classes in English in Aurora, Crystal Lake, Lena and Rockford; and classes in Spanish in Belvidere and Aurora. Classes meet for nine months, twice a month: nine Saturdays (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and nine weeknights (7-9 p.m.).

The sessions cover topics including faith development, sacraments, prayer, leadership and communication skills, apologetics, morality and more. But the program also extends outside the classroom with reading beforehand, writing afterward, meeting periodically with a sponsor, and going on a yearly retreat.

The process provides candidates with opportunities to grow through prayer, theological reflection, critical analysis and problem solving, discussion and presentations by qualified adult religious educators.

All applicants must be endorsed by their parish pastor; contact your pastor or a parish staff member as soon as possible to allow them time to discern your involvement in the program. Applications can be found online at https://www.ceorockford.org/ministry-formation-program/ or picked up at the Diocesan Administration Center, 555 Colman Center Dr. There is a $30 application fee.
