August 24, 2023
ROCKFORD—The Holy Name Society of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, here, honored longtime member Sam Oliveri with the 2023 Lifetime Service Award in recognition of his dedication and leadership to the parish, to the Holy Name Society and to Rockford’s Italian-American community.
The Holy Name Service Award was established to recognize members of the parish who have made contributions through outstanding involvement in activities, long-time service or diligent participation in aspects of the Mass. He also gave of his resources and time by donating many multi-language calendars to parishioners and volunteering for several ventures benefiting the parish, the Holy Name Society and South Rockford.
The St. Anthony chapter of the Holy Name Society will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2024. For nearly 80 years, the group’s goal has been to advance its members and church community toward greater devotion to God and the Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Catholic men 18 years and older from any parish are invited to attend the group’s Mass at 8 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month. Meetings follow after the Masses.
