25th Annual Ecumenical Benefit Brunch Oct. 14
September 14, 2023
ROCKFORD—The 25th annual Ecumenical Benefit Brunch will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 8:30 a.m. (brunch and program begins at 9 a.m.), at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Rd. The brunch is co-sponsored by the Rockford Deanery Council of Catholic Women and the North Conference of Northern Illinois Synod Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
It was begun 25 years ago through the efforts of Catholic Bishop Arthur J. O’Neill and Lutheran Bishop Ronald Hasley. The brunch has a long history of promoting conversation between the Catholic and Lutheran groups and raising awareness of various ministry programs. The two faith groups take turns hosting the event each year at one of their member churches.
Featured speaker is Shamika Williams, executive director of KFACT, who will speak on “Building Healthy Futures for Girls through Holistic Mentoring.”
This year, brunch will be catered by Windsor Pizza Parlor and will include breakfast items (skillet, biscuits/gravy, breakfast pizza) along with pastries, yogurt bars and juice. There will be a silent auction also.
Men and women are cordially invited to attend. Tickets are $15 per person; checks payable to NISWO. Send name, phone, email, address, parish name and if you have gluten-free or vegetarian food requests.
Send by Sept. 29 to: Raye Stone, 5044 Harrison Ave., Rockford, IL 61108. Information: 815-505-4330.
