ROCKFORD—Boylan Central Catholic High School honored nine men and women “who embody the spirit and mission of the school” at the Alumni Recognition Awards on Sept. 12.

 

Judge Mary Linn Green ’70 received The Veritas award. After a 35-year nursing and medical law career, she served from 2009-2022 as associate circuit court judge in the 17th Judicial District where she presided over the Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Court.

 

Dr. Errol and Rosemary Baptist received Honorary Alumni status, he for his 50+ years in medicine and education, she for her teaching career and both for their monetary and other contributions to Boylan’s theological education.

 

The Outstanding Teacher Award was given to Tricia Rozanski who has taught English at Boylan for 25 years and now is English Department Chair.

 

Alumni Excellence Awards were conferred upon:

 

-- Anne Hammes ’66, a critical care nurse for 25 years who then took on administrative roles at Rockford Memorial Hospital and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

 

-- Paula Sentovich ’82, former Boylan theology teacher who later worked at Carpenter’s Place shelter for the homeless and is currently tutoring at All Saints Catholic Academy.

 

-- Dr. Amy Diaz ’84, a 22-year leader at Rock Valley College including as vice president of student affairs who now is president of GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Ariz.

 

-- Dave Appino ’88, who is a principal of two Forbes-ranked top executive search firms: Furst Group/MPI and Salveson Stetson Group, and chief operating officer of leadership development company NuBrick Partners.

 

-- Dr. Kennda Lynch ’93, who is a staff scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston, Texas. Previously, she worked as a systems engineer developing human habitation systems on the International Space Station program at NASA Johnson Space Center. She is also a teacher and a former director of the Engineering 100 Program at the University of Illinois.

 

Additionally, the Young Alumnus Award was given to Jeff Marrs ’09 who previously worked as director of advancement at Boylan and now is a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley in Rockford.
