Poster Contest Promoting Vocations Begins
October 19, 2023
DIOCESE—Are you called to a vocation to the priesthood or religious life? That’s the question prompted by National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated this year on Nov. 5-11 to promote and pray for vocations.
In the coming months, the Diocese of Rockford’s Office of Vocations calls students of the diocese’s Catholic schools to use their artistic gifts to promote vocations in a poster contest.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to create a poster no larger than 11” x 17”. All artwork should be hand-drawn and artists are welcome to use a variety of media: pencils, paint, markers, crayons and more. Scripture verses, slogans, catchy phrases, or other words to highlight the promotion of vocations are encouraged.
Teachers, students and parents can find more information on the poster contest and lessons on vocations at
Schools will submit the top five posters per grade level to the Vocations Office. The contest will end Dec. 13; parents and students should check their school’s individual deadline.
The submissions will be judged on creativity, craftsmanship, effort and overall vocation message. Winners on the diocesan level will be announced by the end of January. Their posters will be printed and distributed in the region of their school.
