October 26, 2023
NORMAL—Catholic Spirit Radio announced that its network has expanded to the Rockford area.
It can be heard on 88.9 FM in the east and central portions of the Rockford Diocese. Listening areas include Rockford, Loves Park and Machesney Park, Belvidere, Harvard, Woodstock, Rockton and Roscoe, Marengo, and surrounding areas.
It can also be heard in DeKalb, Sycamore and Cortland in the DeKalb County area on 89.1 FM. It airs 24 hours a day with programs from national networks of Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), Guadalupe, Ave Maria, Virgin Most Powerful, and Station of the Cross. It also produces six local shows.
Jon Hall, founder and general manager of Catholic Spirit Radio, states, “We are thrilled to bring the extended Rockford area quality talk radio with a vast array of entertaining experts in the field. All ages of Catholics and non-Catholics listen for the talk shows, analysis of news, and prayer opportunity.”
Founded in 2011, Catholic Spirit Radio, based in Normal, has grown to seven stations throughout central and northern Illinois with 1 million potential listeners.
In April, the station held a fund-raiser where current listeners helped to raise over $15,000 to purchase the necessary antenna used for transmission.
The antenna took almost a year to build and was designed in Italy. It now rests atop a tower in Harvard thanks to the work of two radio tower crews.
Catholic Spirit Radio is a non-profit organization, run by volunteers.
