Catholic concert May 31
St. Nicholas Parish will host Catholic singer and songwriter Ángela Sandoval (also known as Ge’La) for a concert on May 31, 7-10:30 p.m. in the church at 308 High St. Cost: $10/person.

Golf outing June 7
St. Peter Parish will hold a golf outing June 7 in memory of Father George Glover, OSB, at Phillips Park Golf Course, 1001 Hill Ave. Registration at 12:30 p.m. and shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Lunch and drinks will be at the course; dinner at O’Malley’s Pub and Eatery, 701 Hill Ave. Day includes awards, drawings and raffles. Pancake breakfast May 19
The Knights of Columbus Council #3880 at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish will hold a breakfast May 19, 8 a.m.-noon, at the Oak St. campus, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Regular menu includes pancakes, eggs, 
hashbrowns and toast; specialty menus include omelets, French toast, Belgium waffles and more. Menu pricing starts at $8; family rates available.

‘Taste of Kermes’ Hispanic Ministry dinner May 25
The Hispanic Ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #3880 will hold a “Taste of Kermes” dinner May 25, 6:30 p.m., in the community room at 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. The meal will include fajitas, tamales, rice and beans, chips and dips, and desserts of churro cake and ice cream. Guests are invited to enjoy mariachi music and traditional dances. Cost: $25/adult, $10/child (under 12 years). 
Young adult fellowship Monday nights
St. Thomas the Apostle Parish invites young adults ages 18-35 (single or married) for weekly community nights on Mondays, starting at 6 p.m. The events, run by diocesan seminarian Patrick Glanville, will start with a half hour of adoration in the Oak St. church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., followed by sand volleyball until 8 p.m. down the road at Lippold Park, 
851 IL-176.  Note: There will be no meeting May 27 on Memorial Day. 
SPRED Mass May 23
The SPRED ministry at St. Thomas More Parish will host a Mass for children and adults with learning difficulties and developmental disabilities on May 23, 6 p.m., at 215 Thomas More Dr.

‘Flores de Mayo’ May 26
St. Mary Parish’s Filipino American Ministry (SMFAM) will hold a “Flores de Mayo” celebration May 26, 3 p.m., on the parish grounds at 10307 Dundee Rd. The celebration will include a procession on the parish grounds; Marian offerings of flowers, prayer and songs; and a Mass and reception in the parish hall. 
Holy hour May 24 for upcoming ordinations
In preparation for the Diocese of Rockford’s ordinations, St. Bridget Parish will hold a holy hour May 24, 7-8 p.m., in the church at 600 Clifford Ave. Msgr. Stephen Knox, pastor, will lead prayers of thanksgiving for the upcoming ordinations of Deacon Jeff Filipski and Deacon Grant Colborn to the priesthood and Ian Ordoñez and Ryan Nooraee to the transitional diaconate. All are welcome. 
Sidewalk advocacy training June 1
Sidewalk Advocates for Life (SAFL) will offer a basic training session June 1, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at St. Bridget Parish, 600 Clifford Ave. The training will teach how to counsel women in crisis pregnancies to choose life, particularly at the Maray Drive abortion clinic in Rockford. Food fundraiser for Emmaus ministry May 19
The Church of Holy Apostles will hold a fundraiser for the Spanish women’s Emmaus Ministry and retreat on May 19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Sherry Center at 5211 W. Bull Valley Rd. Freshly-made food will include tacos and tamales. 
Rachel’s Vineyard retreat June 21-23

Public hour of prayer June 1
In response to the first Rockford Area Pride Parade on June 1, the Rockford Family Initiative (RFI) invites Catholics to a public hour of prayer at 11 a.m. at the corner of East State St. and Alpine Rd. RFI encourages the faithful to give prayerful witness and oppose the parade’s messages about marriage, family and human dignity. Signs will be provided; bring a Bible, cross and chair as needed. 
Eucharistic encounter night May 20
St. John the Baptist Parish will offer a night of Eucharistic encounter May 20, 7-8 p.m., in the church at 320 S. Depot St. There will be adoration, music and time for confessions.
