Catholic concert May 31
St. Nicholas Parish will host Catholic singer and songwriter Ángela Sandoval for a concert on May 31, 7-10:30 p.m. in the church at 308 High St. Cost: $10/person. 
Celebrate DLC founder's retirement June 2
The Dominican Literacy Center (DLC) will hold an open house to celebrate its  retiring founder, Springfield Dominican Sister Kathleen Ryan, on June 2, 1:30-4:30 p.m., at the center, 260 Vermont Ave., behind St. Therese of Jesus Parish. Note: The DLC is not accessible to those with limited mobility. 
Eucharistic procession June 2
St. Mary Parish will hold a Eucharistic procession for Corpus Christi on June 2, 10:30-11:15 a.m., following the 9:30 a.m. Mass at 226 E. Second St. The event will begin with exposition of the Eucharist, then a six-block walk returning to the bell tower for benediction. There will be a canopied seating area near the bell tower for those unable to join the walk. 
Hispanic Ministry dinner May 25
The Hispanic Ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #3880 will hold a “Taste of Kermes” dinner May 25, 6:30 p.m., in the community room at 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. The meal will include fajitas, tamales, rice and beans, chips and dips, and desserts of churro cake and ice cream. Guests are invited to enjoy mariachi music. Cost: $25/adult, $10/child (under 12 years). 
Bible study June 1-29
St. Mary Parish will offer a weekly Bible study for women on Saturdays, June 1-29, all from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Binsfield Hall, 400 Fulton St.  Carol Norman will lead discussion of "1 Corinthians: Living as Christians” by Kevin Perrotta. To attend, call the Faith Formation Office at 847-888-2718. 
Bible study starts in June
St. Catherine of Genoa Parish will offer a six-class Bible study focusing on walking through the Mass. Two time options will be offered: Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. (starting June 4) and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. (starting June 5), both in the church at 340 S. Stott St. Classes will meet every two weeks. Study materials not required, but available for purchase. To register, call the parish at 815-784-2355. 
‘Flores de Mayo’ May 26
St. Mary Parish’s Filipino American Ministry (SMFAM) will hold a Marian celebration May 26, 3 p.m., on the parish grounds at 10307 Dundee Rd. The celebration will include a procession on the parish grounds, offerings of flowers, prayer and songs, and a Mass and reception in the parish hall. 
Strawberry social June 5
St. Joseph Parish will hold its annual 'Strawberry Social' June 5, 4:30-7 p.m., at the parish, 410 W. Lena St. The meal includes a choice of barbecue or ham sandwich, baked beans, chips, and strawberry dessert (options include pie and shortcake). Extra sandwiches will be $5 each. Full pies will not be sold this year. Dine-in or carry-out. Cost: $12/adult, $8/child. Tickets available at the door. 
Sidewalk advocacy training June 1
Sidewalk Advocates for Life (SAFL) will offer a basic training session June 1, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at St. Bridget Parish, 600 Clifford Ave. The training will teach how to counsel women in crisis pregnancies to choose life. Eucharistic miracles exhibit June 6-9
St. Bridget Parish will host the traveling International Eucharistic Miracles of the World exhibit created by Bl. Carlo Acutis June 6-9 in the parish center across from the church building, 600 Clifford Ave. Times for viewing are: June 6, 8:45 a.m.-noon and 5:30-7:30 p.m.; June 7, 8:45 a.m.-noon and 5:30-7 p.m.; and June 8-9 before and after all weekend Masses. Cost: none. 
Holy hour June 7
On June 7, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Bridget Parish will hold a holy hour from 7 to 8 p.m. in the church, 600 Clifford Ave. There will be praise and worship music and confession will be available. 
Eucharistic miracles exhibit June 1-2
For the feast of Corpus Christi, Blessed Sacrament Parish will host the International Eucharistic Miracles of the World exhibit created by Bl. Carlo Acutis June 1-2, before and after all weekend Masses at the parish, 801 Oak St. Cost: none.
Public prayer hour June 1
The Rockford Family Initiative (RFI) invites Catholics to a public hour of prayer celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus June 1, 11 a.m., at the corner of East State St. and Alpine Rd. RFI encourages the faithful to oppose the downtown Pride parade’s messages. Signs will be provided; bring a Bible, cross and chair as needed.  
Dinner and draw-down June 15
To support the ongoing restoration at St. James Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #470 will hold a dinner and draw-down June 15 at the All Saints Catholic Academy gym, 409 N. 1st St. Will begin with a social at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Prizes distributed will total at least $500. Cost: $50; call 815-227-4616 to make reservations. Make checks payable to the Knights of Columbus 470.
